Exactly two years ago, my Association Report focused on Sustainability and the new role that AHAM had assumed. At that point, AHAM's members and its Board had just given the nod to the development of appliance sustainability standards for selection and comparison of environmentally responsible products.
I am pleased to provide this update since AHAM 7001/CSA SPE 7001/UL 7001-2012, the Sustainability standard for refrigeration products, was published less than four months ago. The Portable and Floor Care Sustainability standards covering more than 70 products is nearing publication and several other standards

Paul Sikir, vice president of design engineering for Sub-Zero, has been named chairman of AHAM's board of directors. Sikir replaces Robert Scaglione, formerly of Sharp, who resigned his AHAM position.
