Corning CFO Sees LCD TV Replacement Cycle Accelerating

Corning CFO Jim Flaws says the glass maker expects to see an acceleration in the TV replacement cycle.

Flaws made the comment this morning at the Goldman Sachs technology conference at the Palace Hotel in San Francisco this morning, sitting in conversation with analyst Simona Jankowski.

Flaws says that until now, the primary driver is LCDs has been replacing CRTs. But he notes that the industry has now sold 1 billion LCD televisions. Flaws says we are only now reaching a point where many of those TVs are at least five years old.
