Founder Hovers at Best Buy

Since it started 46 years ago, Best Buy Co. has been run like a family business by founder Richard Schulze, even as it grew from a small stereo retailer called Sound of Music into an international chain with $50 billion in revenue.

Mr. Schulze, 71 years old, handpicked the two CEOs who followed him, opting both times for company lifers. Aside from being board chairman and owner of almost 18% of the shares outstanding, he remains tied to Best Buy through a web of business deals and a foundation
