LG Electronics Recalling 161,000 Stoves

South Korean appliance manufacturer LG Electronics Inc. is recalling 161,000 electric ranges because of a burn and fire hazard, a U.S. watchdog agency says.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said in a release posted on its website this week that burners on the stoves can fail to turn off after being switched off and the temperature setting can increase unexpectedly during use.

LG Electronics, which is voluntarily recalling the stoves, has received 80 reports of instances of problems with the burners. No fires or injuries have been reported, the consumer protection agency
