In an attempt to compete with Apple’s iTunes Music Store, Microsoft has begun offering downloads of TV shows through its competing Zune Marketplace. According to the AP, the content being offered includes NBC series such as “The Office” and “Heroes,” which are not available on iTunes.
The downloads launched Tuesday, and have necessitated software updates that will make it easier to view video content on the Zune device. Previously, the only video content available on the devices were music videos.
Other available content being touted by Microsoft includes Comedy Central’s “South Park,” MTV’s “Jackass” and Sci-Fi Channel’s “Battlestar Gallactica.”
