The Fifth Annual Sports and Technology Survey found that 18 percent of respondents plan to watch Olympic events online, while 25 percent of consumers plan to watch clips or highlights online of the Games. Just 30 percent, CEA found, will follow the games through newspapers and magazines. In addition, 12 percent of respondents said they bought new TVs just for the purpose of watching the Olympics.
The survey also found that 83 percent of those asked prefer sports in HD. In addition, 16 percent of those asked watch two games at the same time on different TVs. More viewers are also watching games on mobile devices, both phones and devices like the new FLO TV.
