A survey of popular online retailers taken over the holidays found that the two most popular retail Web sites listed are Amazon.com and Netflix, while Circuit City and Sony's Web sites ranked near the bottom of the Top 40.

According to the study by ForeSee Results- which utilized the University of Michigan’s American Customer Satisfaction Index- Amazon and Netflix were the only two of the 40 sites ranked to score more than 80 out of 100. Apple, NewEgg.com and Walmart.com all made the top ten while scoring in the upper 70s.

Best Buy rated a 73 while SonyStyle.com scored a 70 and and Circuit City a 69.

“In a recession, knowing that improving customer satisfaction with your website can engender that kind of loyalty and purchase intent is like money in the bank,” ForeSee's president and CEO, Larry Freed, said as part of the announcement. "Too many e-retailers are ignoring this crucial metric, and it shows in the results of our study."
