Amazon Gains Patent For “Anticipatory Shipping”

A month after that 60 Minutes report about its alleged plans for delivery drones, Amazon has obtained a patent for another technology for the future: “anticipatory shipping.”

According to various media reports last week, including by The Verge, Amazon won’t literally be reading customers’ minds about what they haven’t yet ordered. However, the company will ship products to local service centers near customers who they believe are likely to order them.
