Amazon Keynote at CEDIA Focuses on Smart Home Services, Growing with Alexa
Feeling a bit like the Brady Bunch, the big star of CES was Alexa, Alexa, Alexa. With three product training classes and a keynote, CEDIA might be getting the same treatment.
Sarah Zenz, General Manager for Smart Home Services at Amazon, will "unveil how Amazon is building a wave of exceptional customer Smart Home experiences and how it supports the business of CEDIA Home Technology Professionals." The sponsored keynote, which will take place at 2:00 on Thursday, September 7, feels like a peace offering as they look to politely muscle into the connected home space.
Last year, Amazon's Charlie Kindel talked to dealer's about Amazon invading the DIY whitespace in a keynote focused on bringing mass-market voice-recognition to the CEDIA channel. The opportunity, Kindel notes, is mutual for Amazon to partner with the CEDIA community and for customers to maximize the potential and minimize the friction of accepting a budding "voice-first" market.
More recently, Amazon's disruption has materialized in the form of allowing consumers to access a network of A/V installers to do things like wall-mount TV, set-up wireless networks, and, of course, integrate Alexa into a home.
Amazon three other classes, offered free during CEDIA, focus on "Growing Your Business with Alexa," "Designing with Alexa Today", and "Integrating Alexa Far-Field Voice Capabilities into your Product with Intel and AVS."
