Amazon says 2008 was the best holiday season in its history : Dealerscope

Recession and economy-wide retail struggles notwithstanding, Amazon this week declared 2008 its "best ever" holiday season.

According to the AP, the discount online retailer released few details, except to say that on different days in December, it broke its previous-year records for both orders and shipments. Amazon cited several CE products- including the Nintendo Wii, iPod Touch, and a Samsung LCD TV- as its primary movers.

More detailed numbers will be released when Amazon announces quarterly earnings next month.
