The poll, of 1,000 U.S. adults, was conducted last month by GfK Roper. It found that only one in five adults surveyed currently has a smartphone, but "a sizable segment" of respondents, especially those in their 20s and 30s, plan to purchase one in the next twelve months.
Respondents who have not yet purchased a phone named price, dislike of shopping, and confusion about the technology as major reasons.
"It's clear Americans are fanatical about their phones and all the new features they can get on these remarkable devices," Best Buy Mobile's vice president of marketing, Scott Moore, said as part of the announcement. "It's also very apparent that the mobile phone shopping experience hasn't been good for consumers in the past.

There is a recent article on how to choose a smartphone, which is really informative. Check out:

It's really the consumer's fault for not knowing anything of the matter. All the information needed is available online. Stop being so damn lazy, pull up google and research it yourself so you know what you want!
LG Electronic Mobilecomm is the only company making headway to helping the customer get educated on at the retail site with their new customer friendly Interactive Display system. I was amazed at how much live information about each of the phones I was able to get by just picking up each model and interacting with the live phone and video.
This made my decision on what phone I would purchase very easy because I got a chance to see each of LG's phones special features.
Other phone manufacturers had models in the store also but with dummy phones on display. The sales clerk said he could not power up other brands and show me how they work.
There must have been 5-6 customers using the LG system at one time.
Oh, by the way I purchased the LG Incite - I Love it.
Thanks LG
