“Richest in Congress” List Includes Issa, Harman

Lawmakers with ties to the consumer electronics industry took the second and third spots on a survey released this week of the wealthiest members of Congress.
According to the Washington, D.C.-based Roll Call newspaper Rep. Jane Harman, a Democrat of California who is married to Harman International Industries founder Sidney Harman, is the second-wealthiest member of Congress, with a listed net worth of $225.96 million. Right behind her on the list is Rep. Darrell Issa, a Republican also of California, who founded Directed Electronics and has a listed fortune of $160.62 million.
Both trail Sen. John Kerry of Massachusetts, who claimed the top spot with a figure of $230.98 million. Sen. John McCain of Arizona is 13th on the list with a fortune of $19.64 million, according to Roll Call’s methodology.
Rep. Bill Foster of Illinois, who cofounded Electronic Theatre Controls, was 37th on the list, with a fortune of $7.37 million.
