Apple Partners With Credit Card Companies on Payments

Apple is taking a major crack at mobile payments with its next iPhone, and in doing so has lined up some major partners in the credit card industry.

According to Recode, Apple is working with American Express and Visa on its mobile payments technology for the next version of the iPhone, which is expected to debut next week at Apple’s fall event. The Information had previously reported on the Visa deal; other media reports over the weekend added Mastercard to the list of partners.

Despite years of rumors, this would mark the first time Apple will have included mobile-payment technology in an iPhone. Various Android phones have offered the capability, to middling success.
