Apple Returning Some Mac Production to U.S.

Apple, which has been frequently criticized in recent years for the conditions of its overseas factories, plans to shift some manufacturing to the U.S., CEO Tim Cook said in an interview this week.

In the interview with Bloomberg BusinessWeek to mark his first year as CEO, Cook revealed that Apple will invest $100 million in domestic production of Macs starting in 2013.

However, Apple won’t be manufacturing directly. “This doesn’t mean that Apple will do it ourselves, but we’ll be working with people, and we’ll be investing our money,” Cook said.
