Apple Seen Working on Cheaper iPhone

The first Apple iPhone 5 ad

Apple is at work on a “lower-end” version of the iPhone, the Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday.

The report, which cited “people briefed on the matter,” stated that the idea has been under consideration for some time but is now moving forward. The device will resemble the current iPhone but feature “a different, less-expensive body.”

The lower-end iPhone report also continues an Apple tradition of leaking major news during International CES, in which the company does not participate.
