Apple Unveils New iPad Mini, Fourth-Gen iPad and Macbooks

Apple Tuesday unveiled a variety of new products, including the long-awaited iPad Mini, along with a fourth-generation of the original iPad, a new Macbook line and a newly designed iMac.

The iPad Mini is 7.9 inches, sporting 1,024 x 768 resolution and weighing just .68 pounds. It starts at $329. Apple also announced a fourth-generation iPad, just seven months after the previous edition; the new iPad adds the Lightning connector as well as an improved chip.

Both new iPads will ship Nov. 2 (Wi-Fi versions) and about two weeks later (cellular), with preorders opening this Friday. 

On the Mac front, Apple announced a new 13-inch Macbook Pro that features Retina Display, as well as a newly designed iMac, which will be available in 21.5- and 27-inch denominations (costing $1,299 and $1,799, respectively.)  Apple also announced a new version of the iBooks software for iOS, and touted its recent sales milestones, including 200 million devices using iOS 6 and 100 million iPads sold.
