Apple’s Watch: Intro Now, Available (Much) Later

We learned last week that Apple will introduce its wearable product in September, and that Apple’s event was scheduled for Sept. 9. Now, the same reporter who broke the story of the watch intro says the actual product won’t be available until next year.

According to Recode’s John Paczkowski, while Apple will introduce the new watch on the 9th, it won’t actually hit the market until 2015. “It’s not shipping anytime soon,” a source told the reporter.

This isn’t especially rare for Apple; the first iPhone had a six-month gap from introduction to availability, and Apple regularly introduces new iOS software in June that doesn’t arrive on its devices until the fall.
