At Macworld Expo Monday in San Francisco, Apple's last time participating in the event, the company announced both a change in the DRM and pricing regime for iTunes, and unveiled a new 17-inch version of the MacBook Pro.

As reported earlier in the week, Apple reached agreements with the remaining three music industry conglomerates to allow for DRM-free downloads of their music. In addition, Apple agreed to adopt a multi-tiered pricing structure for song downloads, charging different amounts for new hits, less popular new music and catalog titles.

The new MacBook Pro is 17 inches and contains enough battery power for eight hours of use. The computer also includes Intel Core 2 Duo mobile processors and the latest graphic capabilities. When it ships at the end of January it will retail for $2,799.

The event was perhaps most notable for the company's CEO, Steve Jobs, not appearing. Senior Vice President Philip Schiller did the honors instead.
