With Black Friday coming around this week amid the worst financial crisis in decades, retailers in the CE sector are betting on TVs, many of which will be deeply discounted, with several major TVs selling for less than $1,000.

According to a USA Today roundup, Best Buy will sell a 50-inch Panasonic plasma TV for $899 on Friday- but only to 10 customers per store, who will need a "ticket" in order to purchase it. Meanwhile, Wal-Mart will have a 50-inch TV of its own, from Samsung, for $798, although supplies are limited for that as well. Various other retailers, including Amazon, are running similar specials.

And while prices will likely go up a bit after Friday, they could still stay low for awhile. An analyst quoted by the Wall Street Journal Wednesday predicted that HDTV prices will remain low through December.
