Blockbuster, Inc., this week opened a test store for its new store concept, incorporating more electronics and gaming products along with the movies and games. According to Gannett News Service, the first store has opened in Reno, Nev., and it will expand throughout the chain's ten stores in the area.
CEO Jim Keyes appeared last week at the store, along with the city's mayor, and discussed the emphasis on convenience in the new store model. He told Gannett that the model, "if it succeeds," will be expanded nationwide.
Blockbuster this week also announced a deal with LiveNation to serve as a ticket outlet for the concert promoter's events. According to Reuters, the deal is for three years and is meant to drive more foot traffic into Blockbuster stores.
