Boom to Launch Urchin Speaker

DEI Holdings’ Boom brand has announced the upcoming launch of the new Urchin speaker. It’s a tiny, rugged Bluetooth speaker, featuring silicone skins, which is shock and water resistant. The product can be used anywhere from the street to the shower.

The product will be unveiled at International CES and will come out Jan. 8 at an MSRP of $149.99.

“The Urchin plays loud and clear, and is fully customizable with up to 10 colorways and a range of different attachment accessories for wherever you want to take it,” Boom founder Ryan Minarik said in a statement.

“It’s not locked down to your desk like many traditional products, and it’s not limited to the accessories we put in the box. It really fits the BOOM lifestyle. It’s ready to go on all adventures from a bike ride, to a hike, or anywhere you want to take it.”

Met with the young execs from Boom yesterday. Impressive, especially their take on new product marketing strategies and building profiles on their target customer. The design of the Urchin Bluetooth speaker comes directly from the conversations they’ve had with their core customers. It works. Practical design for a practical product. All CE retailers should have a field day with Bluetooth speakers, no matter what vendor makes them. The Urchin, though, is worth checking out.
