CEA: 60 Percent of Adults Plan to Shop Black Friday Weekend

The Consumer Electronics Association this week released a survey showing that 60 percent of U.S. adults plan to shop at some point between Thanksgiving day and the following Monday.

CEA’s Pre-Black Friday Survey found that 37 percent of adults plan to shop on Black Friday itself, with a third of respondents planning to shop in-store.

“The 2012 Thanksgiving weekend has the potential to be the biggest shopping weekend on record,” Shawn DuBravac, CEA’s chief economist and senior director of research, said in a statement. “A full 66 percent of shoppers haven’t completed any of their holiday shopping, but on average, by the end of the weekend, consumers expect to have completed some 30 percent of their holiday shopping.”
