While consumption of video is spreading to more devices, television remains the primary source of viewing video for most consumers.

That's according to "The Evolving Video Landscape," a study released Monday by the Consumer Electronics Association.

HDTVs are the top method of viewing video for 66 percent of adults who have Internet access, as opposed to smartphones (33 percent) and tablets (17 percent.)

“Consumers are watching more video than they have in years past and they are seeking devices and technologies that deliver a quality video and audio experience,” Shawn DuBravac, CEA’s chief economist and director of research, said as part of the announcement.

“However, younger consumers accustomed to multitasking are defining new video behaviors as they watch video content across multiple platforms, on their own schedule, all while interacting socially on their devices with their friends.”
