CEA Makes Sandy Donation, Previews CES
At its annual CES Press Preview in New York Monday, CEA president and CEO Gary Shapiro announced a $50,000 donation to the American Red Cross, in order to assist those affected by Hurricane Sandy in New York and New Jersey. Shapiro, along with CEA conference chief Karen Chupka, shared news about the 2013 International CES.
The event was light on major news; no new keynoters were announced, although Shapiro did say that his new book, "Ninja Innovation," will launch at the show and that CEA's CE Vision Magazine will relaunch as "I3" (It Is Innovation) at CES.
One face normally at the Press Preview was absent: Head Monster Noel Lee, who normally uses the occasion to announce the performer for Monster's CES concert, was not there this year. Shapiro said Lee and his associates had been originally scheduled to appear but were "stuck in Europe"; he expected Monster to announce the concert soon.
