Clavis Insight Names Sharp top e-Commerce Brand for Microwaves in U.S.
On Monday, e-commerce analytics firm Clavis Insight released its U.S. Microwave Oven Rankings Based On Online Metrics, and the name at the top of the list might come as a surprise to some. Sharp was named the top brand in the category, leading the way amongst a long list of online competitors that included the likes of Cuisinart, Frigidaire, Panasonic, and GE. The rankings were comprised using five key metrics: availability, image presence, content, keyword search, and customer rating.
“It’s an honor to be recognized in this report for Sharp’s e-commerce success and overall market position,” Peter Weedfald, Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing at Sharp Electronics Marketing Company of America, said in a statement. “We are proud of our robust line of kitchen appliances and dedicated to making the shopping experience for the consumer as painless and efficient as possible. We’re thankful to have such great offline and online partners to help us accomplish this.”
Clavis reported that over $130 million was spent on microwaves online in 2014, and $1.5 billion of in-store sales were digitally influenced, making attention to online performance metrics a critical component for any manufacturer. Sharp outperformed the rest of the field on both search performance and image presence in the report by offering multiple product views on a majority of its product pages. The brand also lead the competition with strong “breadth and depth of distribution” at three online appliance retailers that were analyzed for the study—Amazon, Target, and Walmart. Sharp offered at least 15 models on each site.
