Comcast, along with the Augusta National Golf Club, announced Monday that the cable giant will broadcast the Masters golf tournament in April in 3D, in what will mark the first live 3D broadcast of a major sports event.

According to the announcement, on Comcast's official blog, the 3D broadcasts will be available to Comcast customers on 3D-enabled TVs as well as PCs.

The event, scheduled for April 7-11, is broadcast on ESPN (early rounds) and CBS (later rounds); the 3D broadcast will appear on a dedicated channel for around two hours per day.

"Our engineers in Comcast Labs have been testing transmission of footage from Augusta National over the past few weeks and I can tell you that it's nothing short of spectacular," Comcast senior vice president Derek Harrar said in the blog post. "You can see how 3D can dramatically enhance the viewing experience, giving a unique, immersive perspective of the golf environment."

The Masters is expected by golf observers to feature Tiger Woods' return to the sport.

I am so glad to tiger getting back on the course again. I mean I was getting so sick of the whole ELin, mystery woman scandals erupting once every two weeks. It was a nightmare, especially because I think Tiger was doing all he could to make good, It could have been worse though, the only reason Tiger hasn't suffered as much as he could have is because he employed a tactic, which worked out for him, check out the story
