Confidence in Tech Hits 2014 High

Consumer confidence in the tech sector has continued to surge, reaching another 2014 high, the Consumer Electronics Association said Tuesday.

The CEA Index of Consumer Expectations (ICE) jumped 172.5 in August, a 1.2-point gain from last month. The CEA Index of Consumer Technology Expectations (ICTE), however, decreased.

“U.S. consumers appear to be brushing off geopolitical concerns that are hampering sentiment in Europe and elsewhere,” Shawn DuBravac, CEA’s chief economist and senior director of research, said as part of the announcement.

“Despite continued softness in the housing market, fundamentals of the economy are slowly strengthening thanks to an improving labor picture and signs of positive economic growth into the close of the year.”
