COO Throgmartin Out at hhgregg

hhgregg said Tuesday that its chief operating officer, Gregg W. Throgmartin, will depart the company, in order to “pursue outside interests and manage family businesses.”

Throgmartin is the son of the late Jerry Throgmartin, the company’s longtime former CEO, and great-grandson of the company’s founder, Henry Harold Gregg. According to the Indianapolis Business Journal, his departure will leave the company’s executive leadership without a member of the Throgmartin family for the first time in its history.

“I want to thank hhgregg for everything the Company has meant to both my life and career,” Throgmartin said in a statement.

“I believe that the Company is in great hands and that the strategic initiatives the Company is embarking on will continue to make the Company prosperous. I wish the Company the best in its future endeavors.”

The company plans to conduct a search for a new COO.

Also this week, hhgregg announced that it has named Kevin Lyons, an e-commerce executive, as senior vice president.
