DEI Holdings, Inc. announced Thursday that it has been acquired by Charlesbank Capital Partners. The deal is for $285 million, including assumption of debt, and has been approved by both boards.
DEI is the parent company of the Directed Electronics, Definitive Technology, Polk Audio and Viper name brands.
"We are pleased to announce this agreement as it delivers significant value to our shareholders," Troy Templeton, chairman of DEI's board, said as part of the announcement.
"In addition, it is a clear endorsement of DEI Holdings and of the hard work and commitment of each and every one of our employees. Charlesbank is a well respected private investment firm whose substantial resources and experience will enable the company to invest in its future growth.
