Directed Electronics Announces Name Change

Directed Electronics on Monday announced that it has officially changed its parent company name to DEI Holdings, Inc. The California-based company said in a statement that the change was approved by shareholders in order to “more closely align the Company’s corporate structure with its daily operations.”

DEI’s brands include Definitive Technology, Polk Audio, and Directed Canada, as well as the mobile electronics/car alarm business which will continued to be called Directed Electronics.

James E. Minarik will remain the company’s president and CEO, while Michael S. Simmons has been named president of the Directed Electronics branch. The company also announced the formation of a new senior officers group, consisting of Minarik, Simmons, CFO Kevin Duffy, Polk Audio President Jim Herd, Definitive Technology President Sandy Gross and Directed Canada President Derek Schuman.

Directed Electronics was founded in 1982 by Darrell Issa, who is now a Republican Congressman from California.
