Dish Adds Commercial-Skipping “Auto Hop” Feature

Dish Network announced this week the addition of the “Auto Hop” feature, which allows users to skip over commercials while watching on their Hopper whole-home HD DVR system.

“Viewers love to skip commercials,” Vivek Khemka, vice president of DISH Product Management, said as part of the announcement. “With the Auto Hop capability of the Hopper, watching your favorite shows commercial-free is easier than ever before. It’s a revolutionary development that no other company offers and it’s something that sets Hopper above the competition.”

I just used the Auto Hop feature for the first time yesterday and loved it! I already loved the PrimeTime Anytime feature, and I already manually skipped through the commercials anyway, and this gives me the option to make it even MORE convenient. I’m so glad that one of my coworkers at Dish talked me into getting a Hopper when it was first released. It was great to begin with and it’s getting better with each software update.

I don’t understand why CBS, FOX, & NBC execs don’t want us to enjoy commercial-free TV. I’m a DISH employee – AutoHop is great because you can easily watch commercial-free TV. Public Knowledge, a consumer advocacy group, is taking a stand for consumers by creating a petition that tells CBS, FOX, & NBC media to keep their hands out of your living room & DVR. Sign their petition to keep control of how you watch TV http://bit.ly/KFdn1Q
