Best Buy, Monster Kick Off Club Beats
New department to promote quality sound in a digital age
November 20, 2009 By Jeff O'HeirConsumer electronics and entertainment icons hit the Best Buy in Union Square, New York City, yesterday to launch Club Beats, a store-within-a-store concept created n conjunction with Monster, rapper and music producer Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine, a music producer and founder of Interscope Records.
Brian Dunn, Best Buy CEO, told the crowd that crammed into the Union Square store that Best Buy will feature Club Beats in about 300 of its stores across the country. Located alongside Best Buy's Musical Instrument departments, Club Beats will feature the latest in music, audio, entertainment and technology gear, including DJ equipment and Monster's Beats By Dr. Dre headphones.
Head Monster Noel Lee, Dr. Dre and Iovine joined Dunn on the stage. They all said the concept of the Beats line of headphones and the new Club Beats departments is to promote quality sound in a digital age and to help consumers discover their inner musicians and DJ.
Best Buy this month kicked off Club Beats at stores in Miami, Minneapolis, Houston, Las Vegas and Los Angeles. The New York City event also featured the guest DJ Will.i.am from the Black Eyed Peas.
