Dunn Out at Best Buy

CEO resigns after three years; Mikan named interim chief

Best Buy announced Tuesday that CEO Brian Dunn has resigned. G. Mike Mikan has been named interim CEO, while a search for a permanent chief executive is conducted.

“There were no disagreements between Mr. Dunn and the company on any matter relating to operations, financial controls, policies or procedures,” the company said in a statement. “There was mutual agreement that it was time for new leadership to address the challenges that face the company.”

Dunn joined the company as a sales associate in 1985, eventually working his way up to the executive floor. He was named CEO in June of 2009.

“I have enjoyed every one of my 28 years with this company, and I leave it today in position for a strong future,” Dunn said in a statement. “I am proud of my fellow employees and I wish them the best.”
