Education is the Lesson From CEDIA Expo 2011
Bedrock Learning Launches Bedrock Vortal
September 13, 2011 By Jack CotterEducation is a key reason that dealers and integrators travel to CEDIA Expo, and Bedrock Learning has launched the Bedrock Vortal, a solution to keep the learning going year-round.
Bedrock is offering a vertical industry web portal of training and courses that allows manufactures to create a course and train their dealer partners without taking them away from the stores.
As Bedrock President Helen Heneveld explains, "A vertical portal, also called a Vortal, is a specialized web site (web portal) serving a specific market or industry niche (vertical market). The Bedrock Vortal serves the connected technologies industry with education through online training and resources."
Under the leadership of Heneveld, an industry veteran with over two decades in the home automation field, Bedrock's experienced team of content writers, graphic artists and project managers can turn material submitted by manufacturers into custom web training in 60 to 90 days by applying proven training principals and developing tests.
"Bedrock stands for fundamentals and principals" says Heneveld. The Vortal provides training on those necessary basics such as lighting and project management. It is not a full replacement to live training, rather it is meant as a supplement, providing more prepared students and decreasing the cost in time and money of live training. The Bedrock training is then available for viewing at any time and any place, allowing for a refresh just before an install, for example.
Along with the Vortal launch at CEDIA Expo, the first courses offered come from Global Cache, NavNet and PCS-PulseWorx, and the number of clients continues to grow.
"We are ecstatic with the new courses and it's a great interactive way for dealers to become certified on PulseWorx Lighting Controls without having to travel to one of our hands on classes or come to corporate. Heck they can do it in their shorts and at their own pace." Adds PCS Director of Sales and Marketing Scott Klodowski.
The Bedrock Vortal is continuing to add manufacturers and advanced mini courses, and the results have been better customer service and more sales.
