Fifty vendors were in attendance, and 1,300 dealers were expected in total from the New York-New Jersey-Pennsylvania-Connecticut area at the event, hosted by Fesco chairman Sam Goldstein.
David Goldstein, the company’s executive vice president, said Fesco’s business has experienced an uptick, in part due to the exit of competitors from the market over the past year. “Manufacturers need to get their product out, and luckily, dealers each year look to distributors to be their warehouses. A lot of dealers are struggling but they need us to carry thousands of products so they can streamline their buying,” he observed.
He noted that dealers were looking for more affordably priced merchandise to answer the needs of a cautious buying public still smarting from the effects of the recession. Hot products in the current buying environment, he added, included tablets, LED TVs, and any accessories that work with Apple products.
He also said that Fesco had added several new vendors this year, including Apple accessories suppliers Hip Street and iSound, RCA’s traditional electronics lines, Elite Industries’ TV furniture range and the Hello Kitty line of children’s electronics.
