Google, having successfully entered the mobile software business, is planning to take its act to the living room.
The Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday that the search giant is teaming up with Sony, Intel, Logitech and other big firms to develop a TV platform which, like the Android operating system, will include room for developers to create programs. The technology is meant to integrate the Web and TV, and work with devices such as TVs, set-top boxes and Blu-ray Disc players.
The effort, the Journal said, remains in its "preliminary stages."
