Google’s Rubin: No Retail Stores On the Way

A top Google executive has denied previous published reports that Google will soon open its own retail stores.

According to All Things D, Android chief Andy Rubin, speaking at a roundtable of reporters at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, said that Google has “no plans” to make a move into brick-and-mortar retail.

The website 9 to 5 Google reported last week that Google would open its first stores by the end of this year. That site reported, after Rubin’s comments, that his source claims the retail effort is still on.
