GoPro Names Tony Bates President
GoPro said Wednesday that it has named former Skype and Microsoft executive Tony Bates its new president. Both Bates and Peter Gotcher have also been named to the company’s board of directors.
Bates, as president, will report to GoPro founder and CEO Nicholas Woodman.
Bates is a former CEO of Skype who joined Microsoft as executive vice president in 2011 after Microsoft bought Skype.
“It’s an honor to join the GoPro team,” Bates said in a statement. “GoPro represents everything that excites me in a company. Incredible products, compelling content, a world-renowned brand and above all, amazing people who make it happen. Working for a technology company that creates products that people love and that capture life’s magical moments is a dream come true.”
