hhgregg said this week that it will offer free recycling at its stores next weekend for Earth Day. Between April 19 and 21, customers can dispose of all electronics products at hhgregg stores except for those in the Chicago area.

The company is also offering specials on appliances and other products, including a 51" Samsung plasma HDTV for $599.99.

“We are looking forward to providing our communities with a convenient, environmentally-friendly way of disposing their old or broken electronics at our stores,” Dennis May, President and CEO of hhgregg, said in a statement.

“Recycling electronic equipment keeps waste out of landfills and prevents toxic materials like lead and mercury from potentially leaking into the ground and polluting the environment, so we are proud to honor Earth Day with this event.”

Also this week, hhgregg announced the opening of new stores in Rockford, Ill. and Highland, Ind.
