Hisense Shows VIDAA Smart InterfaceJanuary 7, 2014 By Stephen Silver
While the new Roku TV, manufactured by Hisense, was one of the more high-profile announcements of Press Day at International CES, the manufacturer's CES press conference was mostly about something else entirely: VIDAA, its new Android-powered Smart TV interface, which the company says may be "the future of consumer electronics."
The key to VIDAA, the company said, is that it rejects the notion that the TV is a computer- because, marketing VP Jonathan Frank said, "TV is about leaning back, not leaning in." VIDAA combines both smart apps with the user's native video content.
The first VIDAA lineup will arrive this spring in 50-, 55- and 65-inch sizes.
VIDAA was announced last year, and established by Jamdeo, a Canada-based joint venture in which Hisense is a partner.
