Hitachi Home Electronics on Tuesday announced expanded U.S. distribution for its Director’s Series televisions, to retailers, including custom installers.

The effort consists of Hitachi expanding beyond AVB and Nationwide Marketing Group to work with both AVB’s Expert Warehouse and Nationwide’s Warehouse Direct distribution programs, in order to serve members of the Home Entertainment Source and Specialty Electronics Nationwide buying groups.

In addition, Hitachi has authorized ADI, as well as some regional distributors in certain markets, to distribute its TV models. Hitachi will also continue to sell on a direct-to-dealer basis.

“Custom installers have told us that just-in-time inventory is a top priority in selecting a supplier,” Peter Brown, the company’s Vice President of Sales, said as part of the announcement. “Adding a well managed two-step distribution enables us to effectively expand our dealer base to meet the growing consumer demand for Director’s Series, particularly our new 1.5 line of UltraThin LCDs.”

over distribution of product causes the internet price to drop below wholesale in many cases. When that happens, our store will no longer recommend that brand. Bad move Hitachi. We used to be able to make a profit on your product - not any more.
