While Mobile World Congress, held this week in Barcelona, primarily focuses on enterprise solutions, there were plenty of consumer electronics-related product launches.
ShowStoppers kicked things off Sunday night at the beautiful Barcelona Opera House where Zagg showed off its Origin Bluetooth speaker, due to hit the streets in April with an MSRP of $249. The Origin is actually two speakers in one and includes a small speaker at the top of the main unit that snaps in place with a powerful magnet.
Both speakers sound great, with plenty of bass and mids. Zagg, under its youth brand iFrogz, also showed off the Caliber Advantage (MSRP $69) analog game control pad. It directly attaches to the mobile device and incorporates an iPhone and iPod touch accelerometer feature, along with typical features of traditional gaming controllers.
– LifeProof, a maker of smartphone and tablet cases, previewed its nüüd water- dirt- and shock-proof Samsung Galaxy SIII case; the frē for iPhone 5; the nüüd for iPad.
– Olloclip’s Steve Muttram demonstrated the company’s three-in one photo lens for iPhone 5. The Olloclip unit over the lens on the phone and provides wide-angle, fisheye and macro lenses. It’s also available for the iPhone 4 and 4S for about $70 MSRP. The company is also introducing a phone case for $50 that includes a shutter trigger and vertical and horizontal built-in tripods.
