Industry Pioneer Hecht Dies

Consumer electronics industry pioneer William “Bill” Hecht passed away Wednesday at the age of 89, his family said in a statement.

Hecht invented the Soft Dome Tweeter, which was patented in 1967, and went on to found manufacturer United Speaker Systems and Phase Technology. He entered the Dealerscope Hall of Fame in 2006.

Hecht’s funeral is scheduled for Friday in Jacksonville, Fla. See this page to view and contribute to a memorial guest book.
