Industry Vets Launch TDG Audio Brand
A pair of industry veterans have announced the launch of a brand new brand and business model called TDG Audio. Daniel Kippycash and Alex Chiou are the principals of the venture, which is dedicated to the custom integration channel.
The initial product line, featuring in-Ceiling speakers and multi-channel amplifiers, will be exhibited at International CES next month, in the Venetian (suite 29-128.) More product lines are to come, including in-wall speakers, LCR speaker systems, outdoor speakers, sound bars and more.
“We felt the timing was right for a new brand dedicated to the custom channel and with a business model unlike anything our industry has seen before,” Kippycash said in a statement. “It goes without saying that you need to have outstanding products, service, value and profit margins. But this is where TDG Audio begins. Our business model has been created to be serious business partners with our dealers and our independent representative partners.”
The big change from standard business models is that every dealer and representative will own shares in the company. TDG Audio will also be sold in “a very restrictive distribution channel,” with no internet or mass market retailer sales.
The model also includes providing the dealers with lead generation, event support, marketing and PR services.
“We look forward to developing products that are unique and provide the custom dealers the type of advantages to win more business.” Chiou said. “In our dealer survey and focus groups we received terrific feedback on our first run of products and confirmation that the development path we are taking is exactly what they are looking for.
Kippycash, TDG Audio’s CEO, cofounded the Momentum Group and also worked at SpeakerCraft and Crestron Electronics. Chiou, the CTO, also worked at SpeakerCraft before becoming president of Blue Aura.
