Insteon to Team With Microsoft on Home Automation App, RetailMay 15, 2014 By Stephen Silver
Insteon announced Thursday that it will soon launch an enhanced version of its app for both Windows 8.1 and Windows Phone. The relationship with Microsoft will also include Insteon devices becoming available at Microsoft's retail stores.
The app, which will be available June 1, will feature such Windows-exclusive features as live tiles, visitor mode and multi-house support.
“The Windows 8.1 platform provided INSTEON with an unparalleled opportunity to develop a beautiful and easy-to-use connected home experience. The Live Tile architecture is especially well-suited for home automation,” Joe Dada, CEO, of INSTEON, said as part of the announcement. “Users are going to love controlling their INSTEON-connected home from their Windows devices.”
