The review embargo has lifted for Apple's new iPhone 5, and the new smartphone has gotten almost universally positive reviews from most top tech credits.
In the New York Times, David Pogue praised the design and the new screen, as well as the new phone's speed. But he criticized the company for their decision to switch to the new "Lightning" connector.
In the Wall Street Journal, Walter Mossberg praised the new iPhone as "significantly faster, thinner and lighter," and the best smartphone on the market.
Engadget's Tim Stevens praised the new phone as "Thinner. Lighter. Faster. Simpler," and "every bit the device that people were asking for when the iPhone 4S came out."
The iPhone 5 sold more than 2 million preorders in its first 24 hours.
