It’s Official: Netbooks Are Dead
The era of the small, low-power, inexpensive laptops known as netbooks has come to an end. According to a report by Business Insider, the last two companies that produce netbooks, Acer and Asus, will both cease doing so this year.
At the height of the netbook craze, which was as recently as 2009, PC makers from HP to Samsung were in the netbook game, with Verizon and other carriers even offering 3G plans for netbooks. However, the rise of tablets quickly made netbooks obsolete.
