Its recently announced restructuring notwithstanding, Best Buy has announced plans to open eight new stores this spring.

The company will cut the ribbon at a Branson, Mo. store this week, with more to follow throughout April and May. The new stores include the company's new location at John Hancock Tower in Chicago, as well as three locations in California (Duarte, Goleta, and Woodland), and stores in Kansas City, Waynesville, N.C. and Kingsport, Tenn.

The store openings will include ribbon-cutting ceremonies and the presentation of $10,000 checks to local non-profits.
