J&R Closes J&R ExpressAugust 6, 2012 By Jeff O’Heir
J&R has closed its J&R Express store at Macy’s Herald Square in New York City, according to the company’s web site. Customers with questions are asked to call the J&R’s customer service department.
“Our J&R Express store, which was located at Macy's Herald Square, is now closed,” according to the web site. “If you have any issues or questions about purchases made at J&R Express, please contact our Customer Service department.”
Company representatives could not be reached for comment Monday morning.
J&R Music and Computer World at Park Row in Lower Manhattan is still open. In February, the company opened its 15,000 square-foot J&R Jr. division in the Park Row string of stores.
J&R joined the PRO Group buying group in December, was inducted into the Consumer Electronics Association’s CE Hall of Fame in 2010 and was named to the Dealerscope Hall of Fame in 2007.According to Dealerscope’s Top 101 Retailers report, J&R had $400 in CE sales in 2011, down from $425 million in 2010.
The small store-within-a-store opened in the summer of 2006.
