Joe Pantel, CEO/Founder, PantelJune 1, 2009
Education: University of Phoenix (undergraduate); Texas A&M-Commerce (M.B.A.); about to start doctorate (University of Maryland, University College)
Career History: Created and founded Adfinity.com, an affiliate marketing site that sold ads from Blockbuster to Myspace-like sites; and GetHomeworkhelp.com, a portal that connected tutors and students. Started Pantel in 2006 after selling both sites to an investor.
Greatest Business Achievement: “Taking this concept of wanting to create entertainment for the outdoors, from start to concept to a finished product, that is now being distributed all across the nation and worldwide.”
Advice: “My advice to people is don’t let the economy stop you from achieving what you want to achieve. If you have the willpower, the marketplace can only predict so much. There are many avenues that consumers are still purchasing, wanting and needing. Don’t let the economy dictate what your will wants.
Are we at bottom?: “Unfortunately, we’ve not seen the worst of the worst. In this industry, it has hit the bottom and is going to start rising; LCD screens are on a 10-percent rise. As a whole, I think it’s a larger spectrum. I don’t think it’s hit the low yet, but it will bounce back.”
